Features
The Epic Clouds have a number of properties that are hidden in the numerical data and so are not necessarily evident at first glance. Here are some of those features.

The Naming Convention
Each name is preceded with the cloud cover and temperature to make it easier to find what you are looking for. The cloud cover is in 1/8th units called Oktas, followed by a text description of a temperature category. For example 25% cloud cover could be:
- “FEC 2’8 Warm – Layered Clouds” or
- “FEC 2’8 Cold – Cumulus”
The temperature ranges are defined in the Epic Clouds Guide here.
Interdependent Weather Properties
The values selected for
- cloud cover
- temperature
- pressure
- snow
- wind speed
are all selected within realistic limits relative to each other to make a cohesive whole. Whilst the clouds are sculpted for beauty, the realism is strictly adhered to.
Special Environments

Special environments that are included that support particular objectives:
- Fog & mist
- Persistent rain
- Gusting winds for choppy landings
- Glider ridge lift and glider thermals
- Directional winds for balloons
- DCS style clouds (named ‘Double Cloud Stack’)
Its worth looking at the context of those you are most interested in to set your expectations.

Winds Aloft
All of the cloud presets also contain ‘winds aloft’ streams with varying speed and direction to help and hinder your high altitude flights. Learn about Winds Aloft here.
