My news anchors can’t wait to bring you the latest info

What’s Happening Today?

I have updated the Epic Clouds to work correctly on MSFS 2024 and am currently waiting for the MSFS marketplace to re-open. I have applied to be a development partner and have learned some of the administration steps required to release a product. The remaining steps can only be completed after I have been accepted as a development partner.

What is the Development Partner Status?

I am still waiting to be accepted as an official development partner. This process was frozen late last year and I am currently stuck in a queue with a tag of ‘in progress’, but nothing has changed since then. Instead Microsoft has redirected all personnel to work on bug fixing the 2024 sim.

How Long Before the First Release is Available?

After my development partner status has been accepted I will be able to complete the package administration and submit the Epic Clouds for inspection and release to the next marketplace upload cycle. I am guessing that it will happen from 1 to 3 weeks after the marketplace opens.

Do You Have Any Plans Following the First Release?

Once the first release has been established I will return to checking all of the presets in detail to ensure they look their best and are working as well as they can. I will also be analysing the properties of the whole cloud set to fill in underpopulated cloud permutations.

Why Not Sell Via Other Platforms?

The current delay is not an ideal situation but there are advantages in using the marketplace in the long term that I feel are worth waiting for, namely:

  • Lower fees – making it cheaper for the customers and myself
  • A broader reach – direct access to the customer base
  • Access to the XBox customer base – via the automated installation
  • A simpler update mechanism
  • Some protection from reverse engineering and file sharing
